"Pay it Forward" is a philosophy that was made into a book written by Cathrine Ryan Hyde. A few years later (2001), it was made into a popular movie starring Kevin Spacek and Holly Hunter.
The general idea is "How can I, as one (1) person, change the world?" This was given to a classroom of elementary school children and here is the answer given by one special young boy.
First, I do a good deed for 3 separate people and ask only in return, that they do the same for 3 more people. They can't repay you any other way. They do a good deed for 3 more and so on. The numbers start to add up very quickly and the world will become a better place because of people's appreciation and desire to "keep it going".
So simple, so easy, anyone can do it. So why do we not see it everywhere?
That's what we beleive "Pay it Forward" is, and what the Festival is trying to encourage by creating ways to give back that everyone can benefit from and enjoy simultaniously. Many people want to help others in need but just don't know how or where to do it. That is what the Festival is. An avenue for good deeds by the power of 3.
